• Document current Infrastructure and TO BE Infrastructure in the pipeline.

• Document scope of virtualization now and in the pipeline.

• Record and keep all correspondence.

Tools to Discover the Software.

• Develop/Adapt tools for counting.

• Test counting tools and verify where software is installed and/or running.

• Capture evidence

Installing, and running software that needs to be counted.

• Make sure S/W is running where your organization needs to include in the count.

Count and Gather Evidence.

• Formalize documentation of the Architecture, CPU technology etc

  • Map hardware to software installed and running

• Execute the counts. Verify and review and gather final evidence

• Produce Final Outward facing documents (Non confidential). 

  • Re-Verify and Sign off.
